Urban Planning

The real property market is affected by government policies on planning, building permitting and land registration. In this course the relation between the real property and the law is assessed in terms of: real property rights and legal restraints; land-use planning and development controls, building standards and permitting systems, regulations vs. deregulation procedures. A focus is on the interaction between real estate business and the local authorities, from red tape to a market-responsive planning and regulatory systems with impact on increasing real estate market efficiency.
